Project Summary
Phase I of the project includes traffic calming, pedestrian, bicycle and Safe Routes to School enhancements on “D” Avenue between Division Street and E. 30th Street. Improvements include enhanced crosswalks with pedestrian refuge islands and corner bulb-outs for traffic calming, pedestrian actuated flashing crosswalk signs, and high intensity signing and striping; new sidewalks and pedestrian curb ramps for ADA compliance; new bike lanes and sharrows with signage; reverse angle parking for bicycle safety; and green bike boxes at two signalized intersections, E. 18th Street and E. 24th Street.
Additional Phase I improvements include new bike sharrows with signage on 30th Street between “D” Avenue and Hoover Avenue; and new buffered bike lanes with signage on Hoover Avenue between W. 30th Street and the entrance to the Sweetwater River Bike Path at W. 33rd Street. Phase II includes a new traffic calming roundabout at E. 12th Street and improvements to the War Memorial.
